AIX version, fileset and maintenance level information

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

How to get detailed AIX® version, fileset and maintenance level information.

Resolving the problem
To determine the version: oslevel
Notes:

·         If your AIX system is below 3.2.4, you will not have the "oslevel" command on your system, and your AIX Version is 3.

·         If the "oslevel" command is on your system, notice the first field of its output.

·         This will be "3" or higher, and is your AIX Version. For example, if "oslevel" returned "4.3.0," your system is at Version 4.

To determine the fileset Version:

# oslevel -g

To determine the exact maintenance level of the machine:

# instfix -i | grep AIX_ML

To determine the exact maintenance level 09:

# instfix -ik 4330-09_AIX_ML

To determine which filesets are not updated using the command, if the output indicates that not all filesets are found:

# instfix -ciqk 4330-09_AIX_ML | grep ":-:"
