AIX NIM Disaster Recovery


These are the required steps to use NIM in your disaster recovery procedure.

Create Mksysb Image

  • Check network and DNS requirements for your host / network
  • Check storage NIM server
    • The NIM server needs at least the amount of space of the rootvg of the host
  • Create nim client
  • Create the image

Restore Mksysb Image

Test Restore Mksysb Image

These are the steps for a test, so you create an entire new client for testing purposes. In this case we restore to a LPAR in an IVM. Before starting, determine a host name and IP address what can be used.
